The Federal Government and the state of Florida have passed similar laws and regulations attempting to create anti-suction human-limb entrapment in the pool industry, which matches the Federal Virginia Graeme Baker Act.

The laws are meant to prevent any direct (body or limb) suction from the pool’s drain system to the pump. The ultimate goal which the government aims to attain is to prevent any person from being entrapped on the pool’s drain.

The law is focused on eliminating suction-driven commercial pools completely and creating a pool industry standard against entrapment by requiring that all commercial and public pool suction systems use gravity-fed collector tanks instead OR more recently other options (which are not as safe OR as recommended by the government as a COLLECTOR TANK).

The VGB Act and the NEW Florida Laws dictate that all commercial pools and spas be renovated and updated a system that is code complaint, which reduces body or limb entrapment.

Apart from requiring a gravity drain system the law also requires a job of this nature (such as the installation of a Collector Tank) only to be completed by a LICENSED POOL CONTRACTOR, such as ROSMEL Pools.
