Summer means fun for all children and teenagers, but means concern and danger for many parents when our family are around beaches and pools.
Miami is surrounded by water, sea, beaches, , creeks, canals, coasts and for our tropical climate, lots of houses have a pool in the back patio. So beyond any safety tips around your swimming pool, commercial or residential, this basic rule is that their children (and even yourself) learn to swim.
In areas such as Kendall, Pinecrest, Miami Lakes, Coral Gables and Weston (Pembroke Pines) are a high percentage of pools at family homes, residential pools, making this high risk of children having fun in these pools without supervision often, of any kind.
In areas of Miami and Miami Beach, Coral Gables, Bal Harbour, Aventura, West Palm Beach, Doral, Hialeah, etc, where the area of hotels or condos is higher, those commercial pools usually there is supervision of parents or the condominium itself.
Here is a information from Miami-Dade where you can get more information on swimming lessons.
Swimming Lessons
Miami-Dade County is surrounded by beaches, lakes, canals and pools. The safety of our children is of utmost importance. As such, for the past few years, I have had the pleasure to allocate money from my discretionary funds for free swimming lessons for the children of District 11 at the Tamiami Park Pool. I will once again be allocating these funds to promote this cause.
Tamiami Park is located at 11201 S.W 24 Street. If you would like more information on swimming lessons, call (305) 223-7077.

Some of us are lucky enough to have a pool. If you are even luckier, you get to enjoy that pool year round. But then, pool maintenance never takes a break.
Follow these pool maintenance tips to ensure that your pool is pristine:
* Test Pool Water for Sanitizer Level
Make certain alkalinity and pH are in balance. Unbalanced pools can affect water clarity, damage pool equipment, cause erosion and even alter water chemistry.
* Add Chlorine or Bromine
Sanitizing your pool is like sterilizing your pool. This kills bacteria, algae and any other living forms in the water. Almost all swimming pools in the United States are disinfected by chlorine or bromine in one form or another.
